Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, applicants must

  • Scholarship students must have already obtained a first higher education degree or demonstrate a recognised equivalent level of learning according to national rules and legislation in place by the application deadline. (That means that scholarship applicants must hold a higher education degree by 15 January 2023 to start the programme in 2023.)
  • Students who have already obtained an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) scholarship or are former Erasmus Mundus Master/Doctoral Course scholarship holders are not eligible for an additional scholarship under the EMJMD action. Students benefiting from an EMJMD scholarship cannot benefit from another EU grant while pursuing their EMJMD studies.
  • The list of countries whose nationals are eligible for a scholarship is presented here. A differentiation between programme country students and partner country students is applied. No more than 25% of the total number of scholarships available will be awarded to programme country students.
  • The monthly subsistence allowance is not given to scholarship holders from a Partner Country for the EMJMD periods exceeding three months (indicatively the equivalent of 15ECTS credits) spent in any Partner Country.
  • Students from partner countries who have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the programme countries (EU + Turkey, Macedonia, Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland) will be considered programme country applicants according to the 12-months rule.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Application Requirements

Before starting the application, please have the following ready for upload:

  1. An appropriate and detailed motivation
  2. A study background in an appropriate academic field.
    • Candidates must have completed an academic Bachelor degree in a discipline of relevance to Euroculture. Examples of a matching educational background: A degree in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences, such as: European studies, History, International Relations, Cultural studies, Literature, Sociology, Political Sciences, Anthropology, Philosophy, Communication and Media Studies, International/ European Law, Theology.
  3. A study background of appropriate academic quality.
  4. A study background at an appropriate Higher Education Institution.
  5. A study background with sufficient experience with academic writing.
    • It is important that a candidate demonstrates their academic writing and research skills by providing an academic paper or a thesis among their application documents.
  6. A study background with an appropriate level of spoken and written English.

Uploading all Documents

Only applications containing all required uploads/documents will be assessed. Erasmus Mundus scholarship applicants must upload a copy of their Bachelor’s diploma by 15 January at the latest.

Those applying as self-financing students can send their copy of their Bachelor’s diploma after the application deadline to [email protected], but the Bachelor’s degree has to be obtained by 1 September / 30 September (depending on the first university) of the academic year when the applicant would like to start the programme.
