SAE Institute NSFAS Funding
The SAE Institute currently offers financial aid/support to students who are financially needy and who show academic potential.
Interested diploma, certificate, occupational, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Programs students must apply for financial aid and grants on an annual basis.
Funding for such financial aid is made through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and hence the size of any award is determined according to the NSFAS means test.

NSFAS Application Requirements
- ID has to be a certified original copy.
- Registration evidence
- Evidence of residency
- The most recent school/college results
- Parent(s)’/guardian(s)’ income documentation
- Affidavit in the Circumstance of Unemployment
- Evidence of Transportation and Accommodation
Who Qualifies For SAE Institute NSFAS Funding?
- All South African citizens.
- Every recipient of the SASSA grant qualifies for funding.
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum.
- A person with a disability – combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum.
- Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
What The Bursary Scheme Covers For Tvet?
- Accommodation in an urban area for R25,200 per annum.
- A peri-urban area accommodation for R18,900 per annum.
- Rural area accommodation for R15,750 per annum.
- College accommodation (Hostels) for R33,000 per annum.
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) for R7,350 per annum.
- Incidental/personal care allowance for R2900 per annum.
- Tuition fee per approved DHET fee structure.

Application forms and information for NSFAS can be obtained from the SAE Institute Financial Aid office via; Nsfas.org.za
Make sure you plan your finances well in advance. Late and incomplete application forms will not be considered. Students are urged to attach all the necessary documents as stated in the application form.
How to Apply for SAE Institute NSFAS Funding
On submission of the NSFAS application form, the student will receive a receipt, which should be kept as a proof of application, without it, is your word against ours.
Please present your slip at all times to the Financial Aid/Bursary Office.
- Prospective Students who wish to study at the College through NSFAS Bursary must Apply Online at http://www.nsfas.org.za
- Manual NSFAS applications will be facilitated but students must apply directly to NSFAS online!

- Applicants applying online may not subsequently apply using a paper-based application
- Please note that receiving a student number (reference number) does not imply you are a registered student until you have officially registered.
- Please note that you will be required to come on campus to write the CAP Test. The test informs and educates students on a variety of career options. At the same time, it gauges the student’s personal interest in the different careers on offer.
- Incomplete applications may result in the delay of finalization of your application
- Continuation with a programme depends on sufficient numbers being enrolled
- Applicants must have a valid email address and mobile number in order to apply to the college. All Communication with regard to your application will be sent via email/ SMS.
