UCT Registration Dates
Upon acceptance of your admission offer, you will get an email outlining the registration process and dates for your program. Please note that correspondence will always be sent to your official UCT student email account.
It’s helpful to remember that each faculty is responsible for registering its students.
If you’re unclear about the registration process or deadlines within your faculty, contact your postgraduate faculty administrator for clarity.
There is a penalty fee for late registration, so know your deadlines and be prepared.

How to Register to UCT Online: Guidelines
Note this: registration is strictly online.
Below are guidelines on how to begin your registration at the University of Cape Town (UCT).
Step 1.
Check if your institution has the I-enabler (If ‘yes’, Click on the i-enabler link to begin your registration; if ‘no’, start from step 2)
Step 2.
Go to University of Cape Town-UCT Registration Portal Via the link below
Step 3.
Insert your student number and 5-digit pin
Step 4.
Click on Login
Step 5.
Navigate to Academic Registration
Step 6.
Click on the Academic Admission Status, and ensure that you have an admitted admission status for the qualification you are registering for.
Step 7.
Click on Registration Restrictions.
- Ensure you do not have any restrictions, such as financial, academic, or international.
- If you do have a restriction, your registration will not go through.
Step 8.
Click on the Rules and Regulations. Your document will be downloaded. Kindly read carefully and
click accept. Once you have accepted the rules and regulations agreement, follow the instructions afterwards.
Step 9. (Final Step)
View, print, or save your proof of registration.

You are not an official UCT postgraduate student until you register. Keep in mind that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach.

UCT Registration Fee
National student registration fee: R2 200.00
International Students registration fee: Total annual tuition fees (100%)
National Residence student registration fee: R2 200.00
International Residence registration fee: Total annual fees (100%)

How to Pay UCT Registration Fee
Payment can be made via the banking details at least 24 hours before starting the registration process.
Confirmed NSFAS-funded students and other sponsored students may not be required to pay the registration fee.
Most postgraduates and all returning postgrads must register at the beginning of the year. Only new research master’s students (dissertation only) and PhD students can register at any time of the year.
