GDE Registration
We are pleased to bring you information on GDE Application procedures for admission to Grade 1 and Grade 8 for the 2023 academic year.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified grade 1 and grade 8 prospects for admission into the institution.
GDE Online Application Procedure
The follow procedures are required to be taken by applicants in order for their application to GDE to be successful.
Step 1. Login to GDE website via the link below.
N/B when creating your password, Make sure that your password contains all the following characters:

- 1 lower case alphabetical character
- 1 upper case alphabetical character
- 1 numeric character
- 1 special character
- 8 character or longer

After you complete Step 1 (Register parent details), you will receive an SMS with your user name and password. Please SAVE this information and use it to login to view your applications at any time
Step 2: Register Learner Details
Step 3: Apply to a School
Step 4 Upload / Submit Documents
When your application is complete, you will receive an SMS with a reference number (Please save this information).
GDE Application Fee
the fee depends on the grade in which you are registering for, and its being stated on the application form.
GDE Online Application Requirements
Certified copies of the following Documents must be submitted to the school or uploaded on the System within 7 days after making an application:
SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS:
- Child birth certificate
- Parent/Guardian ID or Passport
- Valid Proof of Home/ Parent Work address
- Child Clinic card for Grade 1 application or recent Grade 7 report card for Grade 8 application
NON- SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS:
- Parent Study Permit and Passport
- Parent Work Permit and Passport
- Parent Refugee Permit
- Parent Asylum Seeker Permit
- Valid Proof of Home/Work address
- Child Clinic card for Grade 1 application
- Most recent Grade 7 report card for Grade 8 application
For awaiting ID/Birth certificates, parents must obtain a temporary ID / Birth certificate from the Department of Home Affairs
