Upon passing the Council’s national licensure examination, successful candidates are required to submit an online application for registration and licensing after the release of the results.
Once registration and licensing are completed, nurses and midwives will receive a practice license and registration certificate within 72 hours and 4 weeks, respectively.
How to Apply for NCK Licensing And Registration
If you are not registered on the OSP NSK portal, you need to complete the sign-up process. The process is quite simple. Follow these steps to get started:
- Visit the user registration page
- Select the category (student or person).
- If you are a student, you need to provide an index number, ID Number, and Email ID
- If you are a practitioner, you need to provide your registration number, ID number, and email ID.
- Once all the details are entered, click on “Register for Online Services.”

NCK Registration Requirements
TOK nurses and midwives who wish to be entered into the Nursing Council of Kenya roll or register are required to show that they have attained the required competency by Kenyan standards.

The Council will verify TOK qualifications with the relevant training school and board of nursing and midwifery from the respective country.
Successful applicants will sit for the licensure examination, and upon passing, they will undergo clinical placement for a period of up to 24 weeks, upon which they are eligible for registration and licensure.
Registration Requirements For Nurses and Midwives Trained In Kenya
Result slip, online application, and payments for registration and licensure. For the four categories of BScN:
- KRCHN (B) to BScN graduates shall do a direct application for registration and don’t require to go for an internship.
- RN/M to BScN graduates proceed for 15 weeks of self-sponsored internship in community health nursing
- RN-to-BScN graduates proceed for 27 weeks of self-sponsored internship in midwifery and community health nursing
- Basic BSCN must complete 1-year internship (MOH or self-sponsored)
NB: Internships should be completed before registration, subject to passing the NCK License Examination.
Registration Of Nurses and Midwives Trained Outside Kenya (Tok)
Meet NCK minimum entry criteria for the nursing/midwifery programme done abroad:
- meets NCK minimum entry criteria O-level mean grade, with cluster subjects;
- meets the NCK minimum entry criteria, O-level mean grade, without cluster subjects.
- Must have completed the nursing/midwifery programme, registered and licensed by the country of training, and present original certificate and license
Make an official application, attach the required documents for verification, and make payments of the prescribed fees.
NCK verifies the nursing or midwifery cadre applied for with the foreign institution and board or council of the country of training (NB: the applicant facilitates this process).
The applicant applies and sits for the licensure exam in line with the NCK exam timetable
Upon passing the licensure exam, the graduate proceeds for 12 to 24 weeks of clinical orientation
Upon completion of the clinical orientation, the nurse or midwife makes an online application for registration and licensure.
OSP NCK Login
The online services portal, OSP, is part of the NCK website and offers multiple services to registered users. If you already have an account on OSP portal, you can simply sign in. Here is the NCK login process:
- Visit the NCK OSP login page https://osp.nckenya.com
- Now you have login space, namely “Sign in to your account.”
- Enter your username and password and click on “Sign in” Button
- If the details provided are correct, you will be redirected to the dashboard
If you are not able to log in, you may try resetting the password. To do so,
- Simply go to the Reset Password page
- Enter the email ID you provided during the sign-up process
- Then click on the “Reset password” button
- You will get a password reset instructions email at your registered email address.
How to Check NCK License Registration Status
All registered nurses in Kenya need to be on the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) Retention Register.
Provide your name or license number. Kindly follow the steps given below to search the NCK register and check the status
- Visit the Register search page
- Enter the name or License number you want to look for
- Finally, hit the “Search Register” button
- Your search result will appear on the screen

Nurses Trained Outside Kenya: -TOK Registration Requirements

Each nurse or midwife practicing in Kenya is required to be registered and licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya following the Nurses Act, Cap. 257 of the Laws of Kenya.
If the Council is satisfied, you will be invited for an oral interview by the Registration and Licensing Committee. Based on the results of the oral interview, you may be invited to sit a written exam or proceed with a clinical placement to acquaint yourself with the health care systems in Kenya for a period to be determined. Upon successful completion of the required clinical placement, you will be eligible for registration.

NCK License Renewal Requirements
All the license holders need to renew the license before it expires. The license renewal process can be carried out either online or offline. Along with the renewal application, the following documents need to be attached or uploaded:
- All Nurses Council of Kenya Registration Certificates
- 2 passport-size photographs
- National Identity Card, Alien ID, Password
- The actual nursing practice license, which is about to expire,
- CPD Log Book
- Payment Receipt
