Sassa Grant Payment Dates For March.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes millions of social grants every month and according to the Department of Social Development, approximately 31% of the South African population relies on social grants.
Sassa is responsible for administering a variety of grants to qualifying citizens, including the Child Support Grant, the Old Age Pension, and the Disability Grant.
How To Cancel The SASSA SRD Grant
- Go to the SASSA SRD website: srd.sassa.gov.za/
- Scroll down to the Cancel my Application tab.
- Click on the yellow bar which says ‘click here to cancel online’.
- Provide your ID number and mobile number, then click ‘send pin’.
- You will receive an SMS with a 6 digit One Time Pin (OTP) number.
- Client must insert the OTP number on the required field to verify pin.
- Then click ‘cancel my grant’.
- A message will pop up to ask if the applicant is sure about the cancellation of the grant.
- Click yes to continue with the cancellation or click no to discard.
If you need help during the process, all you have to do is call or whatsapp the helpline for assistance. Make sure your have your id number as well as the details used in the registration process just incase it is requested.
Sassa Payment Dates For March 2023
Sassa has confirmed that the grant payment dates for March 2023 are as follows:
Older persons grant payment: 2nd March 2023
Disability Grant payment: 3rd March 2023
Children Grant payment: 6th March 2023
note that 1 March 2023 is also a public holiday and due to the first day of the new year falling on a Sunday, the public holiday will be observed on Monday 2 March 2023.
Therefore, Sassa will only commence with grant payments on Tuesday 3 March 2023.
Beneficiaries may collect their grants using three different methods, which includes receiving their grant directly into their bank account, via the CashSend option or using their Sassa cards at retailers.
These retail stores include Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, Checkers, USave and OK. Beneficiaries will not be charged for swiping their Sassa cards at these retail stores.

“There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” says Sassa.
The agency advises beneficiaries to wait a few days to collect their social grant as it will ensure that they miss the long queues outside of banks and retail stores.
